Through the Fire and the Flames

Sat Nov 15, 2008, 12:18 PM
To all who were concerned about me and made sure I was alright, thank you.

No one was hurt thank the Lord, but our brothers in Clark S have lost a lot. Their place caught fire that night and made a real mess of things. A few things are salvageable, mainly from the firt floor and our RA's room, but that's still four guys who just lost everything.

Clark got a lot of the hellfire, and a lot of girls lost a lot of stuff, and so they are in my prayers and hopefully yours. In regards to the other buildings that went down, the physics and math buildings were scheduled for demolition anyway, so aside from the materials inside those buildings I have no idea. We should be back in class by Wednesday, but who knows.

Robbie and my room is fine, the fire did not catch Clark P (a girls dorm only a few feet from ours), so Clark Q is okay. As for housing, we wont be lacking. There are many dorm rooms in Lower Campus that are triples yet only have one person living in them so we should be fine.

To all my brothers in S, I am truly sorry, if you guys need anything, just ask.

To everyone else, thank you.

I was interviewed by the Santa Barbara Independent, so it gives a pretty good account of what it was like in the Gym that night.

Everyone is going home or to a friends home (and by now should have gotten there) so no one is on campus right now. I was able to grab some stuff (like my computer and some clothes) but considering the fire just burned up its fuel on its way to Westmont, I doubt it's coming back. Fire has a hard time burning on its own ashes.

I am praying, others are praying, and I hope you are too. It could have been a lot worse for Westmont, but for a lot of people it's not over. Pray for them, pray for those who lost things, pray for the fire fighters doing a very tough job.

-Dragon Force

"To you, O LORD, I call,
for fire has devoured the open pastures
and flames have burned up all the trees of the field. "
-Joel 1:19
